Guests can choose from a variety of immersive wellness programmes, from five nights to three weeks. Each programme will be custom-designed to meet guests’ individual needs, ranging from mental health to hormonal balance.

As the name suggests, Joali Being is all about mental and physical wellness. Guests can attend workshops and classes in yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and culinary arts. They can also participate in water sports, tennis, and fitness regimens.

JOALI BEING is a sister property to JOALI Maldives. The two hotels are connected by a 40-minute seaplane flight from Male International Airport. Located on a secluded island in Raa, the resort is designed with biophilic design principles.

Interiors are designed in collaboration with the natural surroundings, featuring neutral colors and flowing lines. Textures include terrazzo flooring, plush rugs, and carved wood headboards.

The Joali Being is part of a new breed of hotel. Besides the 68 water and beach villas, it features a turtle-shaped treehouse, a turtle-shaped swimming pool, and a wellness center. There is also an on-property kids club.

Biophilic design

Biophilic design principles are at the core of the new Joali Being resort in the Maldives. Located on the secluded island of Bodufushi in Raa Atoll, Joali Being is a nature-immersive wellbeing retreat. It draws inspiration from the local traditions and culture, and promotes a healthy, holistic lifestyle.

Biophilic design is based on the principle that architecture and design should enhance the natural flow of energy through a building. To do so, designers use biophilic design elements to create a sense of harmony between the indoor and outdoor spaces. For instance, wood and other natural materials are used in the furnishings. Interiors are crafted with a color palette of blues and browns.

Biophilic design also includes the concept of reducing the environmental footprint of a building. As a result, biophilic designs create a sense of deep, conscious connection to the natural world. Guests can experience the soothing powers of biophilic design throughout the resort’s grounds, including its 68 ocean and beach villas.

The Joali Being island retreat is dedicated to personalised wellness journeys. It is the first nature-immersive wellbeing retreat in the Maldives. In addition to holistic treatments, it offers personalized programs that are focused on wellness, mental rejuvenation and education.

Guests can choose from seven-day programs aimed at health and well-being. These include educational workshops, holistic spa therapies and holistic nutrition. Some of the signature treatments include salt inhalation, sound therapy and overwater meditation. Guests can take advantage of a biological wastewater treatment plant and rainwater recycling system.

Guests can also participate in a range of wellness and educational programmes at the AKTAR herbology center. Here, they can learn about the benefits of herbs, essential oils, spices and other natural body care products. They can also learn how to make their own face masks and herbal teas. A library will be featured, as well as interactive workshops.

The resort’s culinary offerings are earth-to-table. Locally-sourced fresh foods are used, along with spices and essential oils. Additionally, the resort is home to a coral nursery, which helps to rebuild the lagoon’s reefs.
